Climbing the Stairs

Adults should engage in the following levels of activity, according to the Department of Health and Human Services:

  • At least twice a week, do muscle-strengthening exercises
  • At least 150 minutes of moderate physical exercise each week, or an equivalent combination of moderate and strenuous activity

On most days of the week, try to get in 30 minutes of physical activity.
You can do it in small increments throughout the day.
Walking quickly, jogging, or bicycling are some types of physical activity. Taking the stairs is another method to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine.

Other options include parking further away from your destination, taking small walks throughout the day, or doing yard or housekeeping.
